SSAT means Secondary School Admissions Test
The SSAT test has become the standard examination used to gain entry into private schools worldwide but is largely used in the US and also for entry to private boarding schools, junior highs and military schools.
The test takes a little over 2 and a half hours in total and is broken down into several parts as detailed on page SSAT Test Explained.
Most of the SSAT Test sections are marked and scored accordingly, so the higher the candidates score the better chance they have of getting into the private school of their choice. One section however ( the written test ) is not scored but copied and forwarded the the school being applied to for them to view and evaluate.
